In earlyLunarG funded by Valve developed and showcased a Linux driver for Intel which enabled Vulkan compatibility on the HD series integrated graphics, despite the open-source Mesa drivers not being fully compatible with OpenGL 4. Vulkan was formally named and announced at Game Developers Conferencealthough speculation and rumors centered around a new API existed beforehand and referred to it as " glNext ". Some of the most important features are "timeline semaphores for easily managed synchronization", "a formal memory model to precisely define the semantics of synchronization and memory operations in different threads", and "descriptor indexing to enable reuse of descriptor layouts by multiple shaders". No other graphics API offers the same powerful combination of OS compatibility, rendering features, and hardware efficiency. Mesa 20.0 Arrives with OpenGL 4.6 on RadeonSI, Vulkan 1.2 on Intel ANV and RADV
AMD says that Vulkan supports close-to-metal control, enabling faster performance and better image quality across Windows 7, Windows 8. NVIDIA notes that OpenGL is still a great option for a lot of use cases, as it comes at a much lower complexity and maintenance burden than Vulkan, while in many cases still providing great overall performance. Vulkan also has the ability to render 2D graphics applications. Vulkan targets high-performance realtime 3D graphics applications such as video games and interactive media across all platforms. API version is the one packaged with Ubuntu I suspect this card is just not supported by RADV at the moment. Eventually i would suggest you to try hexchat on radeon they should be able to help you. Output should be "Kernel driver in use: amdgpu".

I believe that it could be an issue with amdgpu not loaded try to verify it using lspci -k grep "Kernel driver in use:".ĭo you have the package libvulkan1 installed as well? Ubuntu Community Ask! Is there something I need to do to activate the drivers? It feels like I'm missing something super obvious Check this post. Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers.
Have you devs considered splitting some larger, worse performing chapters with loading screens so maybe large size of the landscape wouldn't be such a pain in the Source's end to render?By using our site, you acknowledge that you have read and understand our Cookie PolicyPrivacy Policyand our Terms of Service. It's the cpu bottleneck so moving cpu load for gpu is ideal solution. You shouldn't downgrade things in a game that doesn't run well either on low or high end gpu. Ok, bad example, but you get my point anyways. There are some performance gains, but it's not like it will turn a "my god this game is so freaking laggy" into a "wow im getting frames per second". It still very much depends on your system specs. A very common misunderstanding of Vulkan is that it will not make a laggy game of yours run better. The game really needs major performance improvments. I guess it could be that source 1 is just so old, too. This game really could use a graphical overhaul, but I feel like they would need to rewrite the entire source engine to do that. I wonder if it would even be worth it, tbh. They did, however make the engine that the game runs on. I do not mean to say that Valve is making Black Mesa. I believe the only game of Valve's that uses Vulkan is D. I doubt it, since Vulkan has not even been implemented into the main Source Engine branches, yet. Home Discussions Workshop Market Broadcasts.
